Bailey given Business
Champion Award
10th District lawmaker recognized by area Chambers
of Commerce
Rep. Barbara Bailey
was given the Business Champion Award today from the Everett Area, South
Snohomish County and Monroe Chambers of Commerce. The 10th District
lawmaker scored 86 percent on the group’s Joint Government Affairs
Committee legislative scorecard.
“It's an honor to be recognized by such a knowledgeable and talented
group of business leaders. Their hard work has proven to be so valuable
in educating state lawmakers, including myself, on the challenges facing
our employers today,” said Bailey, R-Oak Harbor. “The foundation
of our state economy depends on the vitality of our businesses. Yet, our
employers continue to face regulatory burdens and a softening economy.
Now more than ever it's important that all levels of government and
business leaders work together to find solutions for our problems.”
Bailey was recognized at the 2008 Legislative Recognition
Breakfast at the Everett Golf and Country Club. The event also included
the Snohomish County Business Forum.
“The Joint Government Affairs Committee of the Everett Area, South
Snohomish County and Monroe Chambers of Commerce is pleased to present
Representative Barbara Bailey with a 2008 Business Champion Award,” said
Everett Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Louise Stanton-Masten.
“She has been supportive of local business issues that concern Snohomish
County and we are pleased to recognize her efforts.”
The Joint Government Affairs Committee handles public
policy issues impacting its respective Chambers of Commerce. Its primary
focus is developing legislative agendas and advocating positions to
the Legislature, while also considering local, regional and state ballot
measures, referenda and initiatives.
Bailey also received a high legislative scorecard score last year – 88 percent.
